Singing and Strumming
Adult Series
Mondays, Oct. 7-21
WCPC in Wexford

If you’re singing, does your strum pattern fly out the window? Nailing the strum pattern, but your voice is evaporating? Join Amber to build the skills you need to achieve both singing and strumming simultaneously. This 3-week class will get you acquainted with the muscle memory necessary to be able to divide your attention over musical tasks and get you singing and strumming in no time.

WSCC in Regent Square

This class is designed to move you over the that last Beginner+ bump and settle you fully into intermediate territory. We’ll study 2-3-4-5 chord songs in up to 5 keys, practice transposing for your voice, and work on alternating strumming styles.

We’ll be using a variety of strum patterns and thumb-picking styles to accompany our voices on traditional and popular songs.

Fingerstyle 103: Green Book
Intermediate Adult
Thursdays, Oct. 10-Nov. 21
WSCC in Regent Square

We’re starting with Lesson 14 in the Ukulele in the Classroom series, book 1. We’ll finish it up and give you a preview of book 2 for those interested in taking their reading and ensemble skills to the next level. The prerequisites for this class are Fingerstyle 101 and 102. Interested students with previous note-reading experience may challenge/audition into this class by meeting separately with the instructor prior to class.


The Ukulele Way
Beginner+ Adult
Mondays, Oct. 7-Nov. 18

Combining the best elements of James Hill’s Ukulele in the Classroom and The Ukulele Way, this class meets at the intersection of Melody, Rhythm, and Harmony. We’ll use book 1 of The Ukulele Way to pull all of the elements of ukulele playing together into a series of achievable chord-melody solos. We’ll also draw on your musical intuition to begin building solos of your own.

Chord Progression Workout
Beginner Adult
Mondays, November 4-18

This 3-week class will introduce you to 3 keys in 3 weeks, using the 3 most popular chord progressions from the 1950s to today. This beginner class is designed to build your music literacy through chord vocabulary and muscle memory.

The Art of the Triplet
Intermediate Adult
Thursdays, Oct. 10-24
WSCC in Regent Square

Curious about how to get that fast, 3-in-one-beat sound? What the heck is a “triplet” anyway?!? Come find out! We’ll break down the choreography of this strum and practice it over a variety of styles, including Blues, Celtic, and Jazz. Your audience will be wowed!

Special Session: 12/02
Fiddle Tunes and Instrument Maintenance
Monday, 6:30-7:15 and 7:30-8:30, @ WCPC in Wexford, just $30

Join Amber for a double workshop! We'll learn how to change strings and do some general upkeep on our instruments from 6:30-7:15, then learn a couple of fiddle tunes for the next hour. A Low-G ukulele is recommended for the fiddle portion of this event, but High-G friends are always welcome! Please bring strings if you would like to try changing them. Loaner ukes will be available if you don’t finish. We will be reading notation and Tab, and singing and strumming.

80s Strum Party and Instrument Maintenance
Monday, 6:30-7:15 AND 7:30-8:30 @ WCPC in Wexford, just $30

Join Amber for a double workshop! We’ll learn how to change strings and do some general upkeep on our instruments from 6:30-7:15, then give our right hands a workout with some 80s tunes. Who knew the 80s were chock-full of great strumming patterns? The second workshop will be singing and strumming, with a little tab sprinkled in.
